Why can’t we have vanity plates
Recently a member of parliament questioned why the buyers of personalised number plates were hamstrung with rules about what they can or can’t have in their choice of registration number. At first glance it seems to make sense that personalised number plates follow the rules for normal ones, however it is easy to buy a replacement registration which will completely hide the age of your car and also the area where it was registered so why can’t drivers who pay good money for their personalised registration numbers just select whatever numbers and letters they want, so lon as no-one else already has the combination, it doesn’t matter.
