Celebrating Veterans Day
November 11 is the day that most nations celebrate Veterans‘ Day. Some countries like the United Kingdom (UK) call this day Armistice Day or Remembrance Day, signifying the end of World War I. In America, Veteran’s Day is considered both a national and a state holiday. It was announced and signed into law by former President, Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1954 to commemorate and give honor to the US military servicemen and women who worked and risked their life for the country.
Individuals have different ways of commemorating this holiday for the servicemen and women. Every state holds different public affairs in honoring the country’s soldiers such as parades, giving acknowledgment and awards.
