My aunt used to own a restaurant business. I worked for her during the three years that she was open for business. She leased the building from the restaurant owner. He claimed that he had to get out of the restaurant business due to an illness that his elderly mother was suffering from. I think he got out of the business due to the financial state of the restaurant, as his mother lasted longer than my aunt’s business did. My aunt had always wanted to own a restaurant business, but she was left with bad credit after her divorce, so she was unable to obtain financing. Leasing the restaurant from the owner was her chance to fulfil her lifetime dream. The location of the restaurant was not ideal though, so after three years of struggling, she gave up the business.
