Visiting cards , business cards of old
The original business cards were called visiting cards and were used from dates as far back as the 17th Century in France. The cards were normally slightly smaller than a mans hand and the deliverer wrote things such as greeting’s, signatures and promissory notes basically what ever they want to relay to the person they were leaving them for. The cards were normally made from thick card which was normally white in color and did not start to be decorated until much later. A Person that offered such business cards was often held in higher respect in society. If you were given one of these greeting cards from someone it was a big privilege and something that you would cherish for quite some time.
