We Cut Waste With A Plant Floor Manufacturing System
When I would sit at my desk and pour over the spread sheets from yesterdays production I would never know if the figures I was reviewing were sixteen hour or twenty four hour old. And what we had discovered was that by making decisions on old data we were causing a lot of waste to happen. When we installed our plant floor manufacturing execution system we were able to reduce the amount of material in use at any one time and the percentage of it that was wasted. By making decisions on current data we also decreased the man hours needed to produce an item.
