Avoiding Soy Protein
I’m not a fan of soy protein. It’s not as popular amongst body builders, that’s for sure. But I am definitely not a body builder. No, my dislike of soy, whether it be protein powder, soy milk, or products like tofu and tempeh, comes more from the fact that I just don’t feel good when taking them. I used to drink soy milk, and it did taste nice in coffee. But it never really felt that great. And there has been some publicity not too long ago, of potential dangers with soy products, in terms of health. I think it’s best to stick with whey protein. Or you could try some of the other, novel sources, like rice or carob. I haven’t tried carob protein, but it has a similar nutrient profile to soy. You can even get egg protein powder, but I’m told it doesn’t taste great.
