Research on Coenzyme Q10
Coenzyme Q10 is under investigation for a number of potential health benefits, particularly since the 1980s, when it has been possible to establish deficiencies and their effects. Some of the more interesting research being carried out on CoQ10 includes:
CoQ10 levels have been found to be high in hypothyroidism and low in hyperthyroidism, indicating a possible use of Coenzyme Q10 supplements in thyroid problems. Heart problems have also been identified as being possible candidates for CoQ10 treatment, and supplementation has been reported to help some conditions but not all. Because of its presence in the mitochondria, the application of Coenzyme Q10 in cases of Huntingdon’s disease has been investigated and there are indications that the adverse effects of HD on the mitochondria can be improved by supplementation with CoQ10.
It is recommended that one consume 100 to 400 milligrams of CoQ10 daily to maintain good health and wellness. Look for name brand CoQ10 to ensure quality and purity. Your local health food store will carry both name brands as well as high potency coQ10 to suite your every need.
