Why we skip workouts when we are too busy

The past few weeks I must say have been super busy. Now for some people when this happens they sometimes make the mistake of scrapping their exercise routinesFor me it is not really an option as I love to stay in shape and serve as a role model to the 200 plus PE students I see each and every dayI believe the main reason people skip their workouts is due to the giant misconception that a workout has to be 20 minutes, 30 minutes or even 1-2 hours. So if they get too busy the easiet thing to do is skip their workouts because they feel if they can’t put in a specific amount of time then their workouts won’t be effective. This my friend is simply not true at allThe only thing really necessary in a workout is a stimulus for your body to get stronger, get more fit, or shed fat during and more importantly after your workout is done. And time is not the main factor that dictates these outcomesYou can actually stimulate your body to become stronger, burn fat and become more fit with short workouts of only a few minutes. You can use stairs, your own body weight or even a hill like I use in my NGN workout program. There is even a famous study called the Tabata Protocol which showed how short 4 minutes workouts increased the work capacity of elite speed skaters. And this was a big because if you have ever worked with elite athletes it is very hard to see great improvements. It is usually with untrained subjects that you see large improvements. But the Tabata protocol showed that you could see marked improvements in conditioning with short 4 minute workouts even with elite athletes. So it’s great news to know that you too can get amazing workouts in very short times. If it’s good enough for elite athletes it will be good enough for you.
