The first woman to ride in the grand national horserace

In 1977 the grand national had another first, it was a landmark year as it was to see the first ever female jockey in the race, Charlotte Brew may not be a well known name in racing today but back in 1977 she was the person all the commentators wanted to interview as she has the title as being the first Woman to ride in the in the grand national. At the age of 21, she was also one of the youngest jockeys. Today, as Charlotte Budd, she runs a catering company in Somerset. The press and media had a field day with her, as she was great humoured and up for a laugh with the typically upper class english horse racing crowd.
