Computer Transport: Packing is the Secret

Remember how careful you were the day you brought your computer home? You made sure your computer transport was carried out in careful manner and you felt successful once everything was set up and working. Now it is time to make another computer transport and you are worried to death something will go wrong. Will it transport well? Will it moving jar any of the inner workings? If you saved the original packing material you have nothing to worry about. However, if you need to provide new packing material you face a slightly different challenge.

When it transport, the computer will be jarred, bumped and banged. Your job is to prevent it moving unnecessarily. Your biggest challenge in repacking the computer in the original material will be to remember the exact placement of each part. Hopefully you saved the unpacking instructions and there was a diagram enclosed. If not prepare for a jigsaw puzzle session. Most times the packing is such that a piece will only fit where it belongs and this is very helpful. If possible get help from a friend or family member who is good at putting things together.

During computer transport you will want to prevent it moving. So if you are providing new packing materials you will need a box for the brain to fit into with plenty of styrofoam blocks to secure it snugly in the box. Once the brain is stabilized you need to wrap small things like cords in paper and distribute them along with peanuts throughout the cracks and open spaces remaining in the box. If it transport a short distance you may wrap the monitor in a blanket to protect if from scratches. It may be necessary to use more than one and you may use packing tape to secure the blankets around the monitor.

Once the transport is complete breathe a sigh of relief and continue to enjoy your computer as you always have.
