Fear of Wireless Broadband is Fuelled By Ignorance

A survey was conducted by BroadbandChoices.co.uk to throw more light on why British Broadband users are not going wireless. The results showed that it is mainly due to ignorance of what wireless is, and how the technology works. Another reason is the way the wireless product is marketed.  Broadband users are terrified of switching to wireless, and are losing out on all the advantages that mobile broadband internet offers.

There is a lot of confusion because of the way the ISPs are marketing wireless broadband. It should not be promoted as a stand-alone or unique service. Consumers will fare better, if it was marketed as an add-on package. Anyone with broadband should be able to have a wireless connection, as long as they have the correct router.

ISPs need to make things crystal clear for their customers. Right now it seems that they are creating a misconception, which in turn deters customers from using wireless, and enjoying the benefits that come with it. Consumers should have a better understanding so as to make the right choices on how they select their broadband package.

A WiFi installation is simple, and allows the customer to be finally rid of the unsightly Ethernet cables. The user can have multiple PCs in the house, owned by various family members, on the same connection. The Internet can be surfed from anywhere in or outside the house, within a certain range.

Some groundless reasons for not having WiFi are fear of the technicalities involved, fear that financial information will be compromised, and other myths about WiFi.
